FSLA was proud to take part in the Winter Satellite Workshop 2026, the Nordic & Baltic region’s leading New Space event.
Space Law 101 Workshop
The Space Law 101 workshop brought together satellite professionals, policymakers and enthusiasts, offering a fantastic platform for engaging discussions and meaningful connections around the rapidly evolving field of space activities and the law that governs them. FSLA Vice-President Sonja Kojo opened the session with an overview of the history of space law, tracing its development from the Cold War space race to today’s increasingly commercial and congested orbital environment. She highlighted the core international treaties and principles that satellite operators must navigate in practice.
The focus then shifted to the national level, as Senior Attorney Johanna Tuohino explored the Finnish legal perspective on space activities. Particular attention was given to cybersecurity, a timely and highly relevant topic that sparked lively discussion among participants and underscored the growing intersection between space law, technology and security.
